NOTICE: Together, No Longer Empty and NYC Department of Transportation’s pARTners Program has decided to cancel the Continuum project at the Williamsburg Bridge location due to structural and engineering concerns of the fence.

We are as disappointed as everyone about this, as we want to realize this project. Currently together we are working to identify an alternative site.

Continuum
1. a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute

2. a continuous sequence in which adjacent elements are not perceptibly different from each other, although extremes are quite distinct

Continuum will be presented by No Longer Empty and the New York City Department of Transportation. The joint effort of both NLE and DOT will apply the artwork of internationally renowned artists Guerra de la Paz underneath the Williamsburg Bridge to invigorate the city's streetscapes with an engaging temporary art installation.

Continuum will cover five avenue blocks on the Manhattan side of the Williamsburg Bridge with discarded garments and recycled rags of varying colors. The project will remain on view for an entire year.

The fusion of the articles conveys the notion that our society, in spite of heralding the individual, is ultimately interconnected and whole. This installation speaks to the specific character of what the Lower East Side and Brooklyn have evolved to be.

As part of the World Class Streets initiative, this effort will be publicized around the world and will help foster more vibrant and attractive streets while simultaneously offering the public new ways to experience New York City’s streetscapes.
