Celebrate: A Timeline of Hand Styles: Signatures from the 1960s to Present Day
The Bronx is known for being the birth of Hip Hop and graffiti. This mural captures the energy, style, form, and essence of artists’ signatures through a timeline that will refer to the history of graffiti from the 1960s to the present day.
Over 30 artists from multiple generations that are still actively painting or writing their name in dedication to their craft were invited to mark the wall. The unique style of each artist come together on one wall, focusing on the “handstyle”—worked on and mastered over many years.
This is a historic New York City moment for graffiti art: a way to celebrate and educate about the importance of the handstyle and to chip away at the stigma around the negative perceptions of graffiti.
Curated by artist Lady K Fever, the mural will be on view until the end of June. Special thank you to Sophia from Delicioso Coco Helado who have provided support for this project.
Celebrate the completion of this historic mural!
