In just one art installation, Almanza uses material as diverse as lumber, dolly, water gallons, cinder blocks, fluorescent light bulbs, a fish tank, vases, water, an air pump, a sofa, a lamp, doillies, a milk crate, fused light bulbs, mirrors, concrete, tables, bricks, a tabletop, a cushion, a plate, magazines, a desk, and a plant. His installations are totems of the mundane objects that are essential to our lives. His installations can almost be considered “bizarre” as they serve to remove us from the ordinary objects he works with. The viewer must to consider ordinary objects such as wood chips, or florescent bulbs, as aesthetic entities.
