NLE Lab: Remix Rememory

Using the mutable, seemingly vulnerable medium of paper, this collective of artists takes as its inspiration the adorned shirts worn by Bamana/Dogon tribal hunters. Adapting this adornment for relevance in Jamaica, Queens and beyond, Paper Body Armor comprises wearable sculptures that invite viewers to reflect upon what they seek protection from in 21st century urban life.

Writing about the accompanying soundscape: “We perform as ‘Charlatan.’ We conceive of our work as Proto-Poetic utterances, embraced by post-notational soundscapes. Our work seeks to find pathways through the liminal junctures of existence.”
