(RE)VISION Exhibition
Tuesday, April 07 2015
Drawing from Sophocles's play Oedipus Rex, (RE)VISION grapples with questions of vision and looking: what is vision, and how do we convey it? The prefix "re" imbues the word "vision"" with another level of meaning, and speaks to our need to look again, and to look further. The exhibition invites the viewer to look thoughtfully, repeatedly, and with intention.
The site of (RE)VISION is itself a place in transition between its former use by LensCrafters, a retailer of prescription eyewear, and a future tenant. With the intervention of the exhibition we are revising the potential of the space, opening up possibilities for envisioning transitional use for artistic platforms and turning vacancy into a resource to be explored.
NLE Chief Curator Manon Slome has been instructing and guiding the students as they conceptualized the exhibition and transformed the space. Great thanks to Stonehenge Partners who we have worked with in the past.
