Made in LIC : A Jane Jacobs Walking Tour

Saturday, May 04 2013
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Jane’s Walk is a weekend long series of city-wide, free neighborhood walks that honor the legacy of urban activist, Jane Jacobs, (on her birthday). This city-wide open house, seeks to spark dialogues across the five boroughs and deepen people’s understanding of and appreciation for New York.

In the spirit of urban literacy, No Longer Empty and LIC Partnership are excited to give a open tour of Long Island City, sharing our interest, fascination and expertise with visitors and locals alike.

Long Island City has a diversity that is particularly unique - in its physical form as new glass towers are being built next to older manufacturing buildings and in a social context as new companies and residents move to the neighborhood. Come walk through Long Island City’s unique industrial landscape that is now home to modern manufacturing, technology and a thriving arts community.

The tour will present information about LIC’s rich history and personal knowledge about the current state of this diverse neighborhood in its transformation to a modern industrial hub, growing commercial center, thriving art circuit and booming residentialcommunity.

When: Saturday May 4th at 12pm

Where: The Clock Tower 29-27 41st Avenue

Cost: Free!
