Program: Art in Empty Spaces with Community Board
Wednesday, May 11 2011 - Thursday, June 30 2011
No Longer Empty and Manhattans Community Board 3 (CB3) launch the first installation of “Art In Empty Spaces” in Downtown Manhattan. Created in collaboration with local landlords, art organizations, businesses and political leaders, “Art In Empty Spaces” transforms vacant storefronts into temporary art exhibitions, generating cultural tourism, increasing foot traffic and patronage of local business, highlighting available real estate and showcasing local talent.
Art in Empty Spaces demonstrates to local community an initiative that draws together building owners with the arts community to make a difference: showcase local talent and organizations, attract foot traffic, increase cultural tourism, patronize local businesses, and assist with leasing vacant storefronts in the Lower East Side/East Village.
