Mural Mindpower: An Artistic Tribute to A Tribe Called Quest
Please join No Longer Empty and Jamaica BID for Mural Mindpower: An Artistic Tribute to A Tribe Called Quest, presented by CultureCocoaArthouse.
Hip-hop lovers, fans, families, neighbors and creators of all ages are welcome to participate using art materials provided to generate visual ideas to be considered for an upcoming mural in tribute to the legendary hip-hop trio A Tribe Called Quest. Formed in 1985 in Southeast Queens, A Tribe Called Quest was composed of MC and producer Q-Tip, MC Phife Dawg and DJ and producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad. 2016 saw the passing of MC and rapper Phife Dawg, also known as the "Five Foot Assassin" and "The Five Footer", because he stood at 5 feet 3 inches.
This will be the second in a series of Hip Hop Legacy of Queens Murals produced by CultureCocoa ArtHouse. Founded by Jocelyn Goode-Morgan, CultureCocoa ArtHouse is an arts organization (501c3 pending) focused on providing opportunities, entrepreneurship services and advocacy for up-n-coming artists and creatives. The Hip-Hop Legacy of Queens Mural Series employs youth apprentices and teaching artist assistants to collaborate on and complete murals dedicated to the rich hip-hop legacy of Southeast Queens.
This event is free and open to all ages. Everyone who participates in the event will be credited as a participating contributor on the mural credits.
