Music & Art: Jazz legend Marjorie Eliot and artist Andrea Arroyo [Multiple Dates]

Three unique art interventions, featuring Jazz Legend Ms. Marjorie Eliot with musical guests, and award-winning visual artist Andrea Arroyo painting live.
Artworks created during the event will become part of her site-specific installation "The Women of Sugar Hill," featuring works on paper, fabric and mixed media.
Andrea Arroyo’s "The Women of Sugar Hill" installation honors the contributions, struggles and resilience of New York women and is inspired by the Women of Sugar Hill past and present, from the indigenous women of the Algonquin Nation and the female visionaries of the Harlem Renaissance to the present-day women of all backgrounds who make upper Manhattan such a diverse and vibrant community.

About the artists:
Ms. Marjorie Eliot is a celebrated musician, actress and playwright, she hosts the acclaimed Parlor Jazz concerts every Sunday since 1993, keeping the jazz tradition alive by featuring veteran performers and up and coming musicians, and attracting audiences from all over the world.
Andrea Arroyo's women-focused artwork is exhibited extensively and is in private and public collections around the world. Awards include Global Citizen Award Artist, selected by President Cinton, Outstanding Women of New York, 21 Leaders for the 21st Century, Groundbreaking Latina in the Arts, Official Artist of the Latin Grammys, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships, Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance Awards, Puffin Foundation Awards, Harlem Arts Alliance Award and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Awards.
Her commissioned works include projects for the International Museum of Women, The New York Women's Foundation, El Museo del Barrio, the New York Restoration Project, the MTA and the Percent for Art Program. Ms. Arroyo’s work has been published extensively, including in The New Yorker, The New York Times and The International Herald Tribune, and has been the subject of over one 150 features in the national and international media.
