On View: New York, Naturally by Sugar Hill Culture Club

Wednesday, June 25 2014

Sugar Hill Culture Club’s (SHICNYC) exhibition and installation explores the interaction between New York City's natural habitat and inhabitants. SHICNYC, featuring Harlem artists Felicia Gordon and Imani Razat, has created an organic experience that is welcoming to and informed by the surrounding environment and its people. Works and installations by SHICNYC consider the convergence of natural and urban influences as well as the people whose presence defines the City. The space features digital mixed media pieces by Razat that merge natural and urban representations, and street photography by Gordon that spotlights one of New York’s most iconic inhabitants, avant-garde fashion designer, Wendell Headley. The works are contextualized by a glamorous park installation with spaces for public participation.
