Tapiz is a multimedia installation conceived as a floating map, presenting the cultural richness and ethnic diversity of the area. As a corner window installation, Tapiz works to dissolve the boundary between in and out by projecting images of faces from the neighborhood inside the space. The complex, overlapping portraits of people living in East Harlem appear here as layers of bubbles and reflections and visually reach out to the public through the glass.
