Aleatoric Score: The Sonic Translation (2010)
Speakers and subwoofer, 1 found photocopy, 1 digital print, 100 posters, 100 CDs containing the installation’s audio
This is a sound and visual site-specific installation that focuses on translating a found photocopy of a photo of the exhibition’s location, into sound. Additionally, the work recreates the function of the commercial music store, considering the history of the former Tower Records space. All the items derived from the installation are available for sale as multiples within the exhibition’s space. The presentation of the installation consists of the original photocopy, a single edition digital print of the original photocopy, 100 limited edition posters created from the digital file of the original photocopy, a speaker array for playback, and 100 limited edition CDs containing the installation’s audio.
