Preoccupied with the concern of the flattening of all diversity under the auspices of New York City’s socio-cultural mush, Gjergji’s project brings our attention to deconstruction. The installation of a small wrecking ball vehicle with a disco ball instead of the normal metal fixture, presents an artistic gesture confronting the diversity of a neighborhood under historical demolition. Gjergji’s Shake It, Shake It acts as an artistic line of defense in the face of gentrification.
