Xaviera Simmons
Xaviera Simmons's body of work spans photography, performance, video, sound, sculpture, and installation. She defines her studio practice as rooted in an ongoing investigation of experience, memory, abstraction, present, and future histories—specifically shifting notions about landscape as cyclical rather than linear. Simmons creates new work within the Old Bronx Borough Courthouse by collecting a series of images that emerge out of a stealth dance performance in the building in collaboration with Bronx-based contemporary dancers.
